Understanding Compassion Fatigue and Compassion Satisfaction

Objectives and Goals of Module 1

Goal: The goal of the compassion fatigue module is that participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of compassion fatigue/satisfaction, develop management skills, and improve personal and professional holistic health outcomes.

Upon completion of the session participants will be able to: 

  1. Define key terms, and recognize the professional health-risks of compassion fatigue

  2. Identify personal baseline mental health and unique symptom sets associated with compassion fatigue

  3. Appraise effectiveness of strategies used to combat unique compassion fatigue symptoms

  4. Recognize organizational responsibility and involvement in compassion fatigue and satisfaction
